I am so glad to have been part of this. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was expecting some good lyrical jamming, verbal slamming, egoes fighting for that coveted place of being the ‘winner’.  And it didn’t disappoint me. I really enjoyed listening to some edgy poetry by many north east poets. Of course, there has to be a winner and there was one – Aidan Clark who won the judges’ hearts with his clean and consistent performance as well as superb rendition of emotions through his poetry.

WorPoets did well to organise this in Newcastle. But the icing on the cherry were two young women walking through the door who wowed the audience with their confident poems. They looked a little vulnerable, but their poetry was strong and bold. We all loved them. I say, this event was just about that… capturing new talents, new voices. Brill.
